I’m Lindsey. Welcome to my lil’ spot on the web. So nice to meet you.

If you’ve been here before, and want to click over to my blog (updated frequently), then Click here or click on the blog tab above.

For the rest of you, here’s the quick and dirty version of my personal biography:

I live in the gorgeous countryside of North Carolina with my wonderful husband of twelve years. We have three super-great children, ages 11, 9, and 8.  I talk about them incessantly on the blog.

I work at home as a Freelance Writer. That means, I’m my own boss. And I love it. If you’re interested in knowing more about this, click the Services tab at the top of the page. I have very reasonable rates. In addition to copywriting, I also offer research and editing services. Basically, I’m a geek. And proud of it.

Once upon a time, I was employed as a full-time public school teacher. I’ve taught everything from kindergarten to college mathematics. As much as I loved my students, my heart was always at home with my children. I now look at teaching as more of a ministry opportunity than anything else. I am thankful that God has provided a way for me to work from home while also teaching my children.

We are a Christian family and attend a wonderful contemporary, loud, rock-n-roll type church that we love. I grew up Quaker and still really value many of those simplicity principles. However, I’ve come to learn that I really like my worship loud with flashing lights.

We homeschool our children, using mostly a Charlotte Mason philosophy; with a healthy touch of “unschooling” thrown in too. I love to read living books with my children and explore our natural world together. I still haven’t found a math curriculum that I love. Probably because I have a degree in mathematics and I find some sort of fault with every math program I lay my hands on. Suggestions are always welcome.

Should you decide to stick around, you’ll see that I often write about sensitive issues, like anxiety and depression. For several years I’ve suffered with anxiety and depression and I have a desire to reach out to other people, especially moms, who are going through similar struggles.

From time to time, I also write about Arthrogryposis and Hecht-Beals Syndrome, an inherited orthopedic condition two of my children have. Educating others about Arthrogryposis and Hecht-Beals syndrome is a life-mission of mine.

To sum it all up, my one real goal in life is to live a simple, authentic life that is pleasing to God.

And now for the “fun” stuff: I’m horribly addicted to sweet tea and coffee. I love Duke basketball. I read anything and everything, including the back of the cereal box, and I’ve been known to read a book a day in the summer time. I love going to the beach, and one day I hope to retire there in a little purple house on the sand. I like to watch movies, drink good martinis and cook elaborate meals when I have the time, which is, sadly infrequent. I am fascinated by the minimalist lifestyle.

I am concerned about environmental issues and one would probably label me a little bit crunchy. Overall I hold true to conservative-ish values, but I’m not really a tried-and-true Republican. Officially, I’m an Independent. I often tell people I’m too liberal for the conservatives, and too conservative for the liberals. But never fear – I’ll try not to talk about politics, religion, sex, or money too much as these things tend to make people run away in the opposite direction with their hands over their ears.

If this wasn’t enough for you, feel free to email me with any questions you might have. I try to answer email daily, but once in awhile life gets in the way and it may take a few days to respond to your request.

I am enjoying reading your site. You are a great writer because you “write like you talk”. My parents write their stories like that and it always makes things more interesting. Keep on writin’ cuz I’m readin’.

Howdy! I “met” you a while back on the Making It Home forum. Last I recall, you were quitting homeschool to teach–did that last only one year? I’m happy for you that you are home again!! :)

I had to work full time teaching for 2 years, but yes, I am back at home!!! And loving it! :) Homeschool is such a blessing for my kids. They just do so much better. I am so glad to have “found” you again Katherine! :) How are you doing?

I’m doing well, thank you! Homeschooling (I agree–it’s a blessing!), and busy with a 9-month old ~ he was a sweet little surprise last year, lol! I think we went through a similar job change/finance/move–we are finally coming out of the woods on all that, whew! ;) I’ve been enjoying browsing your blog!
